The deputy chairperson of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, Architect Catherine Galea, has resigned after a temporary ramp was built on protected land without the Mepa’s approval.

Ms Galea was the architect commissioned to handle the work, the Department of Information said yesterday.

Environment Minister George Pullicino accepted her resignation, and pointed out that everyone was bound to respect Mepa’s procedures and rules.

He said he appreciated the fact that Ms Galea had seen the need that Mepa officials should all lead by example in their activities.

He also thanked her for her useful contribution over the years, during which she carried out her duties with integrity.
