Snooker: Ryan Clark Wins title after defeating Brecel

Ryan Clark (England) became the new European Under 17 Snooker Open champion by beating last year`s winner Luca Brecel of Belgium in a well fought and dramatic final by the score of 5-4

Frame scores: (Clark first) 69-55, 61-0, 42-62, 63-33, 18-80, 17-80, 60-19, 35-70 and 66-58.

Clark managed a 60 break in the second frame. The match was played in front of several spectators, most of them coming from several European countries.

In the semi-finals Ryan Clark beat Lior Pinhas of Israel 4-3 while Luca Brecel beat Angelo Eyckmans also of Belgium 4-0. In the match for third place Lior Pinhas beat Angelo Eyckmans 3-2.

Malta`s two representatives, Shaun Sultana and Wayne Pace finished in fifth and ninth place respectively.

Gozitan Shaun Sultana had some fine results and he only lost 3-2 to the eventual winner Ryan Clark in the group stages and was very unfortunate not to qualify for the semi-finals. In the match for 5th/6th place, he beat Bairaq Salman (Sweden) 2-0 after finishing third in Group B.

The other Maltese player Wayne Pace also had his good results when in the group stages he only lost 3-2 to last year`s winner Luca Brecel. In the match for 9th/10th place he beat Anders Czarnecki of Sweden 2-1.

The highest break of the tournament came from Luca Brecel who managed a century break of 112.
