A joint venture between Lombard Bank and MaltaPost resulted in the export of more than 700,000 sets of uncirculated Malta euro coins to various European countries.

These sets, weighing almost 33 tonnes, were flown to Germany on 2 January, on a chartered Airbus A300 freighter. The operation was conducted under high security.

“This export order confirms the very strong interest in Malta euro coins,” said representatives of Lombard Bank and MaltaPost which jointly operate philatelic and numismatic initiatives.
