With many running enthusiasts ramping up the miles in preparation of next month’s Malta Marathon and Half Marathon, it is not uncommon for them to start feeling various pains. Fortunately, most of these go away with a simple massage but some may need more specific treatment than that.
What most injuries have in common is that many could be prevented through immediate action and it is the reason why St Patrick’s AC will be organising a seminar entitled ‘Common Sports Injuries in Athletics’.
The seminar, that will be held at the club’s premises on the Gudja by-pass on Friday 18th January at 6.30pm, will be led by the club’s physio Mr Geoffrey Formosa BSc(Hons.), Adv. Dip.(Orth. Med), SRP
“We will be informing those present on the most common ailments of athletes but it won’t be a medical lecture,” St Patrick’s AC president Antoine Attard said. “The talk will deal about preventive care, the symptoms, the basics of possible diagnosis and helpful treatments to restore fitness.”
Entrance will be free of charge and further information can be obtained by calling 9947-2464, sending an e-mail to stpatricks [email protected] or else visiting the club’s website www.stpatricks
