The opening phase of the match was a balanced affair with Attard breaking the deadlock on nine minutes through Firas Aboulezz.

Attard created two dangerous opportunities through Kevin Tonna and Norbert Gerada with Attard replying through Floyd Farrugia whose header just missed the target.

In the 24th minute an indecision by Zejtun’s central defender Elton Caruana led to Attard’s second goal scored by James Anastasi and two minutes later they missed a penalty through Firas Aboulezz, a penalty given for a foul on Floyd Farrugia.

Just before the break the Zejtun goalkeeper Fardell brought off a fine save off a shot by James Anastasi but it was 3-0 for Attard in the 46th minute with Firas dribbling his way past two players on the left flank and Floyd Farrugia scored from close range.

Attard were then denied by Fardell off an effort by James Anastasi and on another occasion Floyd Farrugia hit just wide.

Zejtun replied through Mario Farrugia whose shot was blocked by an Attard defender but Attard scored a fourth goal in the 63rd minute through an angled shot by Firas Aboulezz.

Three minutes from time Attard gained a penalty when Kurt Zahra was fouled in the penalty area but Zahra’s shot from the spot was well saved by the Zejtun custodian.

Fgura vs Qrendi 2-0

Qrendi came out strongly but it was Fgura who created the first opportunity as Matthew Spiteri headed just wide.

In the 17th minute Fgura broke the deadlock through a shot by Clayton Garzia from the edge of the penalty area with Qrendi replying through a Richard Galea crosshot which went just high over the bar.

On 34 minutes the post denied Qrendi’s striker Jesmond Azzopardi and just before the change of ends Fgura were denied by Mascena off a shot by Matthew Spiteri.

Five minutes into the second-half Fgura increased their lead through Clayton Garzia’s second goal with Qrendi coming back through dangerous attempts by Adrian Muscat and Josef Mansueto.

Mdina K. vs Xghajra T 0-0

After just seven minutes Xghajra where very close as Jovil Abela’s corner-kick was headed at goal by Anthony Brignone but the ball was cleared off the goal line by Andre Vassallo.

In the 11th minute Mdina just missed the target through a rising shot by Roderick Schembri and a minute later their midfield player George Frendo was sent off for foul language.

On 20 minutes the Mdina keeper Formosa saved off a Jesmond Azzopardi close-range shot and just before the end of the first-half they were again close through a well-taken free-kick by Jovil Abela.

Eight minutes into the second-half Xghajra’s midfield player Alex Azzopardi was shown the red card for foul language with Mdina missing an glaring opportunity in the 62nd minute as Ian Sammut blasted the ball high over the bar when all alone in front of goal.

Then Roderick Schembri hit just high over the bar and on another occasion Nicky Micallef was denied through an excellent save by the Xghajra goalkeeper.

Late in the match the post denied Xghajra off a Jonathan Cachia volley and then Jesmond Azzopardi’s shot was blocked by Formosa.

Siggiewi vs Ghaxaq 2-1

Ghaxaq broke the deadlock in the 18th minute as a shot by Ludvic Camilleri bounced off the crossbar and Cristian Cristiano was on hand to score from the rebound.

In the 25th minute Siggiewi were close through Eman Ciappara whose long-range shot was saved by Kevin Gambin.

They continued to press forward and the Ghaxaq goalkeeper was again on hand to bring off a difficult save off a shot by Ciappara.

At the other end Ghaxaq wasted a glaring opportunity with Cristiano hitting wide when all alone in front of goal.

A minute into the second-half Siggiewi equalised through Eman Ciappara from a cross by Chris Bezzina and then they hit the post off a shot by Bezzina.

In the 58th minute Siggiewi were once again unlucky as an attempt by Josef Micallef was turned onto the post by Gambin and on another occasion Josef Micallef headed in but he was in an offside position and the goal was not allowed to stand.

Siggiewi increased the pressure and obtained the decisive goal through David Calleja in the 82nd minute.

Gharghur vs Gzira U 1-2

Gzira United went close early on through Owen Spiteri but gradually play resulted in the midfield sector.

Gzira just missed the target in the 32nd minute through Justin Felice and on another occasion an attempt by Owen Spiteri was blocked on the goal line by Gharghur’s defender David Galea.

Gharghur replied through a Matthew Coleiro personal effort which was saved by Camilleri as Gzira missed a sitter through Owen Spiteri.

It was against the run of play that Gharghur took the lead through Marvic Grech in the 45th minute with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.

In the early stages of the second-half, Gzira were very close through Aldrin Muscat and Neil Zarb Cousin.

They made it one-all in the 74th minute through veteran Aldrin Muscat who had come in as a substitute and three minutes later they took a 2-1 lead through Owen Spiteri from a cross by Darren Caruana.

Three minutes from time Gzira were again close through Keith Bonello.

Kalkara vs Pembroke A. 0-3

Pembroke were the better team during the first period but it was Kalkara who created the first goal scoring opportunities.

They first had a Kevin Tonna which was blocked on the goal line and then a shot by Justin Camilleri just missed the target.

Gradually Pembroke dictated the run of play and broke the deadlock on 14 minutes with Karl Vella crossing from the right flank and Liam Camilleri scored from close range.

Six minutes later Pembroke made it 2-0 following a personal effort by Liam Camilleri and on 24 minutes they wasted a glaring opportunity with Carlo Leonardi hitting wide in front of an open goal.

Five minutes after the restart Liam Camilleri notched his hat-trick with a low shot and later on the same player missed a clear opportunity. Kalkara went close through Joe Mizzi, Justin Camilleri and Kevin Tonna as Pembroke came back through attempts by Carlo Leonardi and Liam Camilleri which were well saved Darren Camilleri.

Four minutes from time Kalkara’s goalkeeper Darren Camilleri was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area.
