Prof. Dominic Fenech, a member of the PBS editorial board, yesterday denied again that he had been invited to take part in a Bondi Plus programme which has been found by the Broadcasting Authority to have shown a lack of balance, and was fined e1,164.
The authority said in a statement on Wednesday that programme presenter Lou Bondi had invited various persons to take part in the programme but they had all refused. Prof. Fenech was said to have been approached as well, but he has denied that.
Mr Bondi said yesterday he intended appealing the authority’s sentence. Prof. Fenech was mentioned in an affidavit included with a media release about the intended appeal.
He said no affidavit would change the fact that no one had told him that Mr Bondi wanted to invite him to take part. Indeed, Prof. Fenech added, he had correspondence in which PBS’ Manager Programmes denied he had invited Prof. Fenech on behalf of Mr Bondi or on behalf of his company Where’s Everybody.
