PBS Replies to MLP

Malta Independent Friday, 18 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The public broadcaster, PBS, said it has for the past months been using the internet to send a news programme to Australia only a short time after being recorded here. But the transmission did not rely only on PBS.

The Australian broadcaster was involved as well, PBS said, replying to comments by MLP spokespersons Leo Brincat and Helena Dalli.

Unfortunately PBS’ file format was not being accepted so an intermediary company was being used. But because of this there have been rare cases when the service was delayed and would not be transmitted. This, however, was not the rule, as the spokespersons were alleging.

PBS said it would continue considering how to improve the process.
