Maltese Embassies should promote investment – Leo Brincat

Malta Independent Saturday, 19 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Labour in government will make Maltese embassies abroad work to promote investment, job creation and foreign trade, MLP foreign affairs spokesman Leo Brincat said at a meeting with senior officials of the Chamber of Trade and Entrepreneurship.

The party, he said, had four main proposals: to promote Malta as a centre of Islamic finance, to give an impetus to relations with Libya and other Maghreb countries, to create a business forum between Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf countries, and to penetrate relatively new markets such as India, South Africa and Africa, while improving commercial activities with important countries such as the US, China, Russia and Japan.
