Man Given suspended sentence for buying stolen equipment

A man from Xghajra was yesterday jailed for one year suspended for two after he pleaded guilty to buying carpentry equipment knowing that it was a stolen item.

Raymond Cordina, 45, from Xghajra, pleaded guilty, before magistrate Miriam Hayman, to purchasing the equipment in October 2006 and to handling stolen goods.

He also pleaded guilty to relapsing. After hearing his guilty plea, magistrate Hayman jailed him for one year suspended for two. Police Inspector Daniel Zammit prosecuted while Dr Jose Herrera and Dr Veronique Dalli appeared for the accused.
