The man from Marsascala who was arrested on Wednesday evening after members of the Drug Squad found almost 7kgs of cannabis resin hidden in a heap of manure yesterday pleaded not guilty to the charges of possession of cannabis in circumstances that denoted that it was not for his own personal use.
Angelo Fenech, 35, pleaded not guilty, before presiding magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera, to possession of cannabis resin on Wednesday.
He was remanded in custody.
According to police reports, the man was arrested after he was seen meddling in the manure late at night.
When they carried out a search in the manure a total of 27 pieces, each weighing about 250 grams, amounting to a total of almost 7kg, were found.
Police inspector Dennis Theuma and Inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted while Dr Emmanuel Mallia and Dr Giannella Caruana Curran appeared for Mr Fenech.
