Yes, those were the good old days.

Mr Eddy Privitera (Those were the good old days TMID, 15 January), wants us to believe that the years with Labour in government were the best ever for Malta.

Did he ever have to go to Sicily to buy some decent chocolate at the time? And maybe toothpaste too? Did he have a colour television?

I wonder if Mr Privitera knows of someone who wanted to enter University, but found the doors closed because there was a limit as to the number of students who could be accepted. And, if this someone was so lucky, did he or she take the course they wanted, considering that the selection was so

limited?

Dr Mr Privitera never experience a power cut, so regular in those dark days? Did he always find water in his tap? And was he always sure that the conversation he was having on the telephone – if he had one – was not being overheard by his neighbour?

Maybe he does not know that in those years people could not even read In-Nazzjon, or In-...Taghna as it was known those days, in public places such as St Luke’s Hospital.

Yes, this government has made mistakes because nobody is perfect. But give me a Nationalist government any time. Who wants to go back two decades?
