Serious Marsa Local council with MLP councillors

Malta Independent Sunday, 20 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

From Mr F. Debono

I am enclosing the photo published in the Marsa local council’s leaflet, which Paul Aquilina (PN Local Councils Coordinator) commented on, saying that the pamphlet is a political advert published with public funds.

I wish to ask if anybody can see whether this is political advertising or publicity. What is the difference between Labour Party councillors and PN councillors? We usually see more political advertising in these publications where the majority of councillors belong to the PN.

Besides that, several leaflets published by ministers and government departments look like a political manifesto a few days before the election.

The Marsa local council publication is an information leaflet that is sent to all residents as our residents take an interest in the work the council does.

We were surprised that Mr Aquilina never wished to have this photo published because there is Alfred Sant and his delegation meeting with the Marsa local council discussing the main problems and issues that have never been tackled by the ministers responsible for the Environment and Infrastructure and so on, who were invited to visit the Marsa local council but refused the invitation.

The Marsa local council was delighted that the Malta Labour Party approved its policies on the Grand Harbour plan and most of the council’s proposals, which the Marsa local council had always tried to discuss with the government but was ignored.
