With the reassertion of capitalism in the form of neo-liberalism of the past years, especially since the 1980s, the 21st century would grow a generation of democrats as revolutionaries.

Ours is the age of empire and virtual reality. Consequently, this new generation of revolutionaries have the task to put into practice the principles of equality and social justice, so that the multitude would not remain subjected to the dictates of the elite – owners of big capital: well and truly a democratic revolution

This contrasts with struggles of past epochs that due to different conditions then, witnessed other forms of struggle. Marxists distinguish themselves exactly on their ability to understand reality in this way; due to their materialism and historicism they live a “non-essentialist” philosophy.

In the 19th century the struggle in the heartland of capital was against the bourgeois ethos being then introduced and established. Consequently, a prominent place in the struggle was taken by the professional and artisan circles with the ideologies of nationalism and socialism - communism then formulated.

In the 20th century – the age of mass production - the bureaucracy predominated: in the Fordist form in the workplace and in the social-democratic and Stalinist form in the trade union and political party.
