A television and internet campaign to help people give up smoking is being held till the end of February on national and pan-European TV stations and websites in the 27 member states of the European Union.
All those people who decided to give up smoking will find help in their approach with the HELP e-mail coaching module on www.help-eu.com. The users who sign up online are sent e-mails at regular intervals over a two-month period to help and encourage them in their cessation process.
The HELP-website registered tens of thousands of subscribers since the launch of the e-mail coaching operation in mid-2007.
Three 20-second TV spots are being broadcast till 10 February on some 100 national and pan-European TV stations to trigger and drive traffic to the HELP website and a pan-European and national web wave accompanies and supports the TV advertising campaign and propel visits to the website.
The ‘HELP – For a life without tobacco’ campaign that European Commissioner Markos Kyprianou launched in 2005 is one of the largest public health awareness-raising initiatives ever organised.
The general motto of the campaign is providing help and support not to take up tobacco, help to resist peer pressure or help to address passive smoking.
