St George’s returned to winning ways beating Dingli Swallows who played the whole match with ten players. In fact after only four minutes Jason Cachia floored Anizoba who was heading straight for goal, and referee Azzopardi ejected the Dingli defender and awarding St George’s a penalty.

From the penalty spot Silvio Sciberras made no mistake. Undoubtedly this incident had its toll on the final result, as Dingli paid the price especially in the second half when they faded out completely as St George’s scored at will.

However Dingli played a gallant match against all odds, even managing to obtain the equaliser on fifteen minutes.

Jeremy Agius crossed towards promising Chris Ciappara who headed home from close range. This goal rattled the Saints as failed to come to grips with their opponents. But on 30 minutes a Chris Grech shot was well saved by goalkeeper Farrugia and from the resultant corner kick Emerson Amaira headed home anticipating goalkeeper Farrugia.

In the second half it was plain sailing for St George’s as they moved the ball with ease with Anizoba, Agius and Barry in splendid form. On 58 minutes St George’s scored their third goal when Luke Agius crossed from the left towards the unmarked Glenn Barry whose shot slammed against the under part of the crossbar before finishing at the back of the net. This was Glenn Barry’s first goal with the Saints following his recent transfer from Lija.

On 71 minutes Glenn Barry scored again when he shot low past Farrugia, finishing off a great run by Anizoba. The game continued at a slow pace with Dingli doing their utmost to reduce the gap. Five minutes from time they managed to do so when Anywanna beat Andrea Gatt from close range following a long ball from Etienne Farrugia.

In the dying minutes Dingli Swallows went close with shots from Anywanna slightly missing the target.
