Senglea moved to second place in the table easily beating a demotivated Marsa side. Although taking a surprise lead, Marsa were practically never in the match as Senglea showed all their class, confirming that they are firm candidates for the promotion race.

Apart from the goals scored Senglea went very close on several occasions and the victory margin could have been larger.

Marsa confirmed their sorry state, as they languish in the lower part of the table. It is surely a tough season for the Redblues as relegation worries are now a serious threat.

Mark Tanti, Darren Grech, and Chris Cuschieri led Senglea’s midfield with strikers Ewurun and Kenneth Abela doing the rest.

Marsa took a surprise lead on three minutes when Johann Camilleri scored his first goal this season when he anticipated goalkeeper Attard to conclude a Shaun Cutajar freekick.

Senglea stormed immediately forward and obtained the equalizer on ten minutes when Kenneth Abela headed home from close range a good cross from the right by Darren Grech. Five minutes later Senglea goalkeeper Brincat made a brilliant save off a Glenn Bonello dipper.

On 25 minutes Senglea deservedly forged ahead through an Ewurun header following a dangerous corner by Mark Tanti. Senglea were now in full command as they created several scoring chances. Chris Cuschieri who had a brilliant match,hit the post, and had another shot going slightly wide.

Mark Tanti’s effort went inches wide, and Ewurun missed another good chance all alone in front of goal. On 38 minutes Senglea scored their third goal, through another corner taken by Mark Tanti, with Kenneth Abela heading home his second personal goal.

Marsa made two substitutions at the start of the second half, but Senglea increased their tally after only two minutes when Mark Tanti lobbed beautifully home from just inside the area.

On the hour Marsa pulled one back when substitute Jonathan Martin scored with a low shot pouncing on a bad sortie by goalkeeper Attard. Marsa had some good moments going close with efforts from Achukwu and Chircop, but ten minutes from time Senglea scored their fifth goal when Ewurun easily scored from close when the Marsa defence failed to clear a harmless Kenneth Abela cross.

In injury time Marsa were unlucky when a Shaun Cutajar scorcher slammed against the crossbar.
