I have read, with total bemusement, the sardonic letter by a very frustrated Tony Formosa, who tried to tear to pieces my letter Drinking water at Mater Dei (TMID, 18 January). He simply failed!

In his totally scornful attitude he got his facts completely wrong, as my mate was not a he but a she, as she went to the ladies toilet to swallow the pills with tap water.

His lack of positive and sympathetic understanding failed completely, when instead of agreeing with me that there should have been a water dispenser available free of charge near the hospital pharmacy – as that is a basic fundamental right – he tried to ridicule my plight in a very crass and low way. After all, everybody would benefit if drinking water was available.

His cynical writing exposed his amazing frustration towards the British Health system, as he suggested that I should write to Her Majesty and those British dignitaries that he mentioned in his letter. I suggest that he should write to them and then perhaps Her Majesty might invite him to Buckingham Palace and give him red carpet treatment and drinking water in a crystal glass, to help him calm down and explain his misery and frustration.

Both my guest and I have nothing to do with Britain and its problems, and that was beside the point and completely out of order, as my guest was not British!!

Of course, he can reply to this letter but I consider this matter closed.
