The 54 nautical miles sea span that separates Malta and Sicily, taking the main entrance to Marsamxett Harbour and the Sicilian port of Pozzallo as the two landmarks, is again the challenge to a group of seafaring enthusiasts.

Windsurf, yachts, power-boats, Maltese dghajsa, and even swimmers have along the years featured in different exciting activities. Now in the forefront of this challenge will be the Kayak.

The organisation aspect, to be handled by the Wishbone Solidarity Group, is still in its initial stages: however, the protagonists of this daring challenge have already agreed that the event will also be a fund raising exercise in aid of the Malta Cancer Foundation. In fact the official slogan of the event will be ‘Kayak for Cancer?

Another novelty attraction in this event will be the featuring of Gozo where the departure of the crossing will be from the Island of Calypso, possibly from Marsalforn.

The first weekend of July, exactly Friday 4, is earmarked for this challenge.
