Qormi started this game as favourites however Sliema had other plans and by the 4th minute they had already forced 2 short corners which did not produce any danger to the Qormi rearguard. On the 11th minute, from Qormi’s first Short Corner Mallia saved well an Andre Ghio’s effort.

In the 12th minute Stephen Tanti weaved his way towards the Sliema goal but his final hit at goal hit the side board. On the 17th, Sliema won their third Short Corner and from a melee that ensued it was Dylan Lentini who flicked the ball home to put his side one up. After this goal Hotsticks kept up the pressure and a reverse hit from Fritz Langelotz just missed the upright.

On the stroke of half time Qormi were awarded a short corner from which Rudolph Camilleri managed to scramble in the equaliser.

In the second half Qormi took command of midfield with Hotsticks relying mainly on the counterattack.

On the 53rd, Luke Mallia pulled off an excellent reflex save off Julian Zahra to the frustration of the Qormi player. Qormi kept on the attack and on the 28th it was Philip Magri who saw his hard hit at goal just going wide.

Mallia again denied Qormi on the 31st with a point blank save off Magri. Seconds before the match ended a reverse hit sizzler by Rudolph Camilleri just missed the posts.

Rabat registered their fourth victory in a row. The game was well balanced but offered no spectacle as both sides played a rather confused encounter.

As it has become customary Rabat went ahead on their first attempt at goal when after some forceful dribbling by Shawn Falzon, he managed to pass the ball to the unmarked Josef Antonelli whose weak hit at goal was fumbled by Young Stars goalkeeper Waylin Abdilla.

After this goal Young Stars immediately went on the attack and Clifford De Raffaele missed a chance to conclude when well set up by Silvano Vassallo.

On the 13th Waylin Abdilla made amends for his blunder when he brought off 2 consecutive great saves off Falzon and Anotonelli.

Play was kept mainly in midfield until the 18th when from a short corner move between Kevin Micallef and Shawn Falzon saw the latter lethally executing to make the score 2-0. Between the 25th and half time Young Stars could have at least reduced the score when Silvano Vassallo, Christian Bonello and Marvin Vella missed their chance to conclude when well positioned in front of goal.

Play in the second half degenerated especially after the 39th when Shawn Falzon, receiving the ball from Josef Antonelli notched goal no 3.

Young Stars did try to at least score a consolation but it just wasn’t their day.

On the 69th minute James Azzopardi scored goal no 4 by lifting the ball over the Young Stars goalkeeper after having received a pass from Falzon.
