A 35-year-old man was jailed for two years after pleading guilty to grievously injuring a woman from whom he stole less than Lm50 worth of goods together with another person.
Patrick Mangion, from Qormi, pleaded guilty to dislocating the woman’s shoulder on 3 January.
In handing down her judgement, Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera said that the court had given enough chances to Mangion to mend his ways as he had collected 22 convictions since 1991.
Since Mangion had never showed a genuine commitment to reform, the magistrate held that he should be jailed and recommended the prisons authorities to see that he is treated for his acute drug-related problems.
Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.
