During what has now become a traditional event at the end of every year, the chairperson of the Maltese Association of Social Workers (MASW), presented the Social Work Awards for 2007 to twelve outstanding professionals. The social workers who were nominated by their colleagues for displaying certain social work skills were Maria Camilleri, Colette Farrugia Bennett, Katya Cachia, Rosaline Debono, Manuel Mangani and Patrick Harvey.

Special awards were given to: Marika Borg Wirth, the outgoing Chairperson of MASW and now chairperson of the Malta Social Work Profession Board, in recognition to her long years of service on the association’s executive committee; Pat Bonello and Agnes Bezzina, for their contribution on the Social Work Profession Board as representatives of the Association; and Maureen Cole, Marceline Naudi and Joanna Xuereb for their contribution on the scientific committee of the first Social Work National Conference.
