Compleet IS SW 72

Depiro 54

(25-14)(14-13)(18-14)(15-13)

Compleet made it three wins out of three games against Depiro, as they kept their second spot in the standings. Depiro’s hopes of a final three place took a nose dive, and now they will concentrate on gaining points for the Relegation Pool. Vella’s and Arsovski’s efforts proved to be of no avail for Depiro, as Compleet punished them at every opportunity, to expose their weaknesses.

Matthew Zammit returned for Compleet, and Ivan Buldakov took the place of Roderick Mifsud.

Silvio Cassar was on fire for Compleet straight from the start, but Depiro had their treys to fall on, as Roderick vella sank two and Marko Arsovski the other, for an 11-11 tie. Then it was Compleet in command, as Omar Said and Kristin Baldacchino both made treys in a 14-3 session ending run, and Compleet prised themselves away from their adversaries.

In the second quarter Etienne Bezzina went on court, and Compleet had another trey, although Arsovski made a similar one at the other end. Compleet made an 8-2 run, with a second Said trey, for a 35-20 lead. Arsovski sank his third trey, but Compleet were keeping a hold on the game. Roderick Vella made a quick two hoops for Depiro in the later stages of the session, but Compleet could rest on a 39-27 advantage at the interval.

After the break Depiro pressed their opponents at every opportunity, and Compleet’s lead fell to eight points twice. They recovered their composure, and an 8-2 run restored their confidence, with a handsome 53-37 lead. Depiro's efforts were fruitless as Compleet contained their opponents. and after three sessions they led 57-41.

In the final quarter Compleet found gaps in the opposing defence, and free shots enabled them to steer clear, at 63-42. Vella’s thrid trey for Depiro found a repeat from Said’s third trey, and Compleet kept a firm hold on the proceedings. They put in their remaining bench players, with a safe score in their favour, and points were few late in the match, as the result was a foregone conclusion.
