Enhancing The service at bring-in sites

Malta Independent Tuesday, 29 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

We thank Mary Micallef from San Gwann (TMID, 24 January) for bringing to our attention the incidence of brimming bring-in sites.

WasteServ Malta Ltd manages a collection system for the bring-in sites which is all the time being optimised for specific sites that become full at a much faster rate than the rest. Also, around Malta and Gozo, an extra bin for plastic is being set up to handle the disposal of large amounts of plastic that is being separated at source.

In order to further mitigate the results of the overwhelmingly successful waste separation projects, the bring-in sites around Malta and Gozo, currently totalling 200, are being increased to the planned 400.

This will be done in parallel with the re-starting of operations at the Sant’ Antnin Waste Treatment Facility, where all bring-in sites waste will be further sorted and sent for recycling.
