On Saturday the Winter league continued with Marsa C.C playing Krishna Pen & Paper.
Marsa won the toss and elected to bowl first. Krishna missing opening batsman Nowell Khosla opened with Mark G Sacco and Sam Dhandapani. Both were out in the second over of the game.
First Dhandapani tested the throwing arm of Mike Caruana in a quick single and was run out with a direct hit whilst Sacco was bowled two balls later, both batsmen had made three runs each.
On a day where runs were hard to come by due to the ground still being under the effect of the heavy rains, the batsmen struggled. Faraaz was Krishna’s top scorer making 18 runs.
Chris Naudi scored 11 runs from ten balls before being caught, while Pierre Naudi and Samuel Aquilina both scored seven runs each. The Krishna team totalled 63 runs. For Marsa Martin Llewlyn took two wickets, while Ronnie Sacco,Gordon Hewitt and Sarfraz Ali all took a wicket each.
In reply Marsa had a flying start of 18 runs from the first three overs with Mike Caruana scoring 12 runs from ten balls before being caught.
A succession of three quick wickets had the Marsa team struggling. Ronnie Sacco and John Grima had other ideas seeing Marsa win the game, both making 14 runs not out each.
For Krishna Kevin Krishna and Faraaz both took two wickets each while Sam Dhandapani and Chris Naudi took a wicket each.
With this win Marsa earn seven points while Krishna earned one.
Marsa lead the standings on 32 points from five matches, Krishna follow on 21 points from four matches, while Melita have only two points from three matches.
Krishna will have to win both of their remaining games to have any chance of winning the competition.
Next Saturday Krishna C.C will play Melita C.C at 1pm. In the morning the nursery/academy will be from 9.30 till 11.30.
