Responsible Greens And Christian Democrat blackmailers

Malta Independent Thursday, 31 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

In your leader A lesson for Malta? (TMID, 28 January), you wrote: “But the question that the Maltese people will have to ask is whether the presence of a small party as part of the government would mean that the country will be in the hands of a small minority that could withdraw its backing at any time to plunge the country into a political crisis, as has happened in Italy. Do we want Malta to become like Italy?”

What you failed to inform your readers is that the situation in Malta is very different from the one in Italy: in Malta we have the Maltese Greens of Alternattiva Demokratika who have a track record of 19 years as a consistent, serious and credible political party. In Italy, instead, we have had the Christian Democrat Clemente Mastella who, apart from being investigated for alleged corruption by the judiciary, has also blackmailed the Romano Prodi government for the past year or so and eventually voted against it.

What the PN gurus should be worried about are not the serious and level headed Greens, but their close friend and party ally Clemente Mastella, whose disgusting and disloyal behaviour has been a disgrace to all his fellow European Christian Democratic colleagues in the PPE.
