The election was one of the items on the agenda for the annual general meeting held recently at the Kennedy Nova Hotel.

The election of the Executive Council. The four posts, namely that of President, Vice-President Finance, Vice-President Public Relations and Secretary General were all contested by Gordon Asciak, David Valenzia, Stephen Caruana and Carol Cassar Torregiani respectively.

The other posts will be occupied by David Valenzia, Vice President Finance, Stephen Caruana, Vice President Public Relations and Carol Cassar Torregiani, Secretary General.-

Former president Cilia Pisani thanked all those present before giving a brief overview of the events of the past year while stressing the need for further collaboration with the clubs to enhance the popularity of the game.

Mark Camilleri, Vice-President Finance, then presented the financial statements for the year ending 31 December 2007.

The Secretary-General, Dr David Farrugia Sacco, gave a very interesting power-point presentation about the Centre of Excellence which the MTF is proposing to build in Pemborke in collaboration with the Malta Table Tennis Federation.

He stated that this Centre would be built to provide much needed training facilities for the national squads with the possibility also of attracting foreign teams to conduct training camps. He continued by stressing that the Centre would under no circumstances compete with local clubs and international tournaments would only be held there if none of the clubs accept or offer to organise them.

Godfrey Bonello, the outgoing Vice-President Public Relations, was unfortunately indisposed.
