The Activities and Sports Club of Malta International Airport held the second edition of the MIA Fun Runs on the exclusive route along the perimeter of the airport.

90 airport employees who work with 14 different entities operating at Malta International Airport competed in either the 5 km or the 10 km races. Indeed, the event attracted considerable interest, not only among the participants, who hailed from all levels and professions and whose ages varied from 19 to 56, but also with the numerous persons who happened to be at MIA at the time.

By virtue of MIA’s association with the Maltese Olympic Committee as official partners, a number of MOC officials and some of Malta’s best athletes also participated in the race to encourage the participants.

Paul Camilleri (Department of Civil Aviation) was the overall winner of the 10km race with an excellent finish in 00:36:49 whilst James Testa (Lufthansa Technik) was the overall winner of the 5km after completing the race in 00:21:17.

MIA’s CEO Julian Jaeger addressed the participants and congratulated them for their efforts. He pledged MIA’s commitment to promote sports events, especially with MIA employees as well as their colleagues at the airport.

Mr Jaeger then presented the trophies to the winners and commemorative medals to all participants.
