Repair Work on chapel

Malta Independent Friday, 1 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Infrastructure Minister Ninu Zammit yesterday saw restoration works being carried out at the chapel in Zebbug dedicated to the Madonna ta’ l-Angli, which was built in 1787 to a design by Andrea Psaila.

The façade is being cleaned of biological remains but it is in a sound state, as the lower area is made of hard stone. Repairs will be carried out to the roof and the lanterna, which will be taking some meticulous work because of the deterioration. The dome’s ground pottery also needs seeing to because of considerable damage and the steeple will have its cement cover removed, and be given plastic repair.

The work should be concluded by the end of April, Mr Zammit said.
