Fitzel To make use of all his players in these matches

Malta Independent Saturday, 2 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

National coach Dusan Fitzel will be making use of all his 28 players in the squad in the forthcoming three matches in connection with the international tournament.

Special attention in the first two matches will be given to two newcomers – Birkirkara’s Shaun Bajada and Hamrun Spartans’ Ryan Fenech. For them it will be their baptism of fire in the national squad and they will try to leave a good impression to justify their call-up with the national team squad. They are not expected to be included in the final match, as all the other 12 players who will be involved in domestic league matches the following weekend.

The ‘foreign’ players will not be available for the opening two matches as they are expected to arrive on Monday after their weekend matches with their respective clubs. These are Michael Mifsud, Luke Dimech, Udo Nwoko and Justin Haber.

This is an experimental tournament and Fitzel hopes to see his players raising their levels to those he expects of them.

The full squad consists of the following players:

Goalkeepers: Omar Borg, Justin Haber, Andrew hogg, Mario Muscat

Defenders: Ian Azzopardi, Roderick Briffa, Luke Dimech, Josef Mifsud, Peter Pullicino, Brian Said, Stephen Wellman, Kenneth Scicluna, Aaron Xuereb.

Midfielders: Roderick Bajada, Shaun Bajada, Cleaven Frendo, George Mallia, Udo Nwoko, Jamie Pace, Kevin Sammut, Gareth Sciberras.

Strikers: Gilbert Agius, Etienne Barbara, Andrew Cohen, Ryan Fenech, Michael Mifsud, Terence Scerri, Ivan Woods.
