Simone Pavlides was born and raised in New York not far from Manhattan. There, her love of all things theatrical was born. She became involved in all her schools’ productions and studied

acting at university. She also studied acting in London where she agreed to marry her husband and follow his career around the world. Sixteen years, a Master’s Degree in teaching, a voice-over career, and two children later, she has found her first love again and is now ready to pursue this career with a vengeance! Her Malta debut was at the MADC One-Act Play festival in

September where she played a crazy woman in Semblance of

Madness, a part which, she insists, was not written about her. Simone is playing the role of Mrs Johnson in the upcoming MADC production of Glorious! at the Manoel Theatre which opens on 8 February and runs for two weekends.

How old are you? Star sign and date of birth?

Don’t you know you’re never supposed to ask a woman her age? I will say that I was born in the last year of the baby boom and that I am on the cusp between Sagittarius and Capricorn.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

I would like to be a very busy New York City actress.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Good health for me and my family and the courage to pursue my dreams.

What is your favourite occupation?

I love singing.

I am (still) married!

What is your greatest fear?

Losing sight of what is important in life.

What is it that you most value in your friends?

Their constancy.

How would you like to die?

I wouldn’t!

extravagance?

Weekly massages.

What is your greatest regret?

Having left the theatre for so long.

What is your most treasured possession?

As a Navy wife, I have often had to reduce our possessions to fit into a certain weight category. I have learnt to leave things behind. It doesn’t always feel good, but they are only things, after all. If I had to pick something, I would choose my family photographs.

Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

I wish to be able to play the piano well.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of

misery?

Being alone and unloved. Being one of the world’s forgotten people.

Where would you like to live?

For now, on Long Island in New York.

My strength.

heroines in real life?

My heroes and heroines are the people who persevere in the face of adversity.

Hypocrisy.
