IT Ministry Hits out at MLP

Alliance with Microsoft

The development of Windows XP in Maltes, new accadamies at MCAST and the Unversity, free Encarta software, subsidised software, new IT training centres, financing for courses, financing for the delveopment of e-ID, financing for trainign of teachers, subsidised Windows Vista sofware.

Alliance with IBM

Certificates for 60 students as Linux Entry Level Administrators; a number of courses, massive amounts of free software, work placements in Israel, Switzerland, Italy and Spain; IBM visits abroad and IBM IT meetings held in Malta.

Alliance with SAP

New academies at the University and MCAST and financing for temporary work placements for students.

Alliance with Oracle

Oracle academy at MCAST and teacher training in the USA, free software and Oracle Associate Certification. Work placements and entry for SMEs to the Oracle Partner Network.

Alliance with ESRI

Specialist software for the University of Malta, two exam centres in Malta, teacher training, temporary work training and ArcExplorer geography aid for secondary schools.

The alliance with Cisco resulted in learning accademies at the University and MCAST which has resulted in 400 graduations. The alliance with HP resulted with the opening of eight community learning centres as well as the set up of the Micro-Enterprise Acceleration Programme. The ministry said that Mr Brincat never recognised any of these achievements. The ministry called on him to recognise the significance of these achievements, to withrdaw and apologise for his unjust criticism. The ministry also called on him to eloborate on his declaration to strengthen these alliances and what he ahs in store for them in the future.
