Who does the Malta Labour Party think they are fooling?

In proposing that the years of schooling should be increased by one – with the introduction of what they are saying is a reception class – before children are promoted to primary school, the MLP is already trying to find ways and means to reduce unemployment.

They know that their policies – if they are elected – will not be as fruitful as those of the Nationalist Party in generating employment. So what Labour is planning is to keep young people for an extra year in school to keep unemployment low.

Is this the new beginning Labour has been talking about? Is this their way to convince the people that we should give them another chance?

If Labour are elected again, we will suffer the consequences that we already tasted between 1996 and 1998. We should thank our lucky stars that Labour could not hold on to government because of their internal problems, giving the Maltese the chance to rectify their mistake.

Let us not commit another error in 2008. This time, a Labour government will not collapse after two years – and within five years Malta would be thrown to the dogs.
