A fire that most probably started in a rubbish skip in St Christopher Street, Valletta, yesterday damaged two cars, one extensively, police said.
Mobile District Police were informed about the fire and tried to extinguish it using fire-extinguishers. However, the fire was too strong and was put out after the intervention of members of the Civil Protection Department. A Fiat Uno was severely damaged by the fire while a BMW sustained considerable damage to the rear.
Duty Magistrate Dr Michael Mallia, who was informed about the case, appointed various experts to help conduct an inquiry. Police investigations are still under way.
