Yesterday the 100th Anniversary Celebration Skeet competition continued at the Malta Shooting Sport Federation ranges in Bidnija on 50 clays after Wednesday’s 75 clays.The best six shooters qualified for a barrage final of another 25 clays.

Shooters from Malta, Italy ,Wales and Georgia took part in this event who were all amazed with the beautiful weather and fantastic organization from the MSSF.

Italian Giovanni Di Bari was the best foreign shooter, hitting a total of 136 clays from a maximum of 150. Luigi Ronco was second (135) while the best Maltese shooter was young Clive Farrugia who placed third overall, hitting a remarkable 134 clays. Other Maltese shooter Paul Vella finished fourth (133) after winning a shoot-off with Italian Marco Sablone. Another Italian, Andrea Sacchetti placed sixth (132)

Italy also won the team event, comprising Sablone (110), Sacchetti (110) and Di Bar (110)i, hitting a total of 331 clays.

The Malta team of shooters Paul Vella (110), Darren Vella (109) and Clive Farrugia (111) were a close second with a total of 330 clays.

Wales finished third with a total of 264 clays.

Clive Farrugia also won the Class A, beating Paul Vella and Darren Vella.

This was a remarkable score and placing for Clive Farrugia considering his age.

He was under the supervision of his coach Steve Mock. Farrugia is aspiring to shoot in The Junior Commonwealth Games in Pune India next October.
