A Nation of copycats

From Mr J. Schembri

“We are ready and prepared for the election whenever Gonzi calls it, everything is planned to the nearest detail.” Basically, that’s what Jason assured us a month or two ago.

A week after the MLP billboards (depicting a running family) were installed in their pre-planned places, I now notice that Jason, was late or forgot to purchase, install and connect the environmentally unfriendly halogen lamps to all his billboards scattered around the Maltese Islands.

It’s not a question of funds, as both parties collected an equal sum of money from their fund-raising activities, it’s a question of expertise. They think they know it all.

With the inside information he is getting from the “Woods” and the “Saids” he should have planned better.

I hope that after this ‘quick fix’ we would not see the poor party volunteers tying these billboards with wire rope after some gale force storm hits these windswept islands.

Is this a bad omen for Malta under a “Pjan Ghal Bidu Gdid” (Plan for a New Beginning) with a renewed New Labour? What would Josanne Cassar call this? Emulation?

John Schembri
