The support the Labour Party is finding for its policy of equal opportunities to build a stronger economy, strengthens its hand for the implementation of its plan when in government, Helena Dalli, main spokesperson for the public function and women’s rights said.

Labour’s policy had the support of associations working to make the most of the country’s human resources, as had been shown at discussion meetings, the MLP had about its policies.

Anna Borg, speaking in the name of the confederation of women’s organisations, said in January last year that there were many important points in Labour’s policy and the confederation agreed with the policy presented by the Labour Party, Ms Dalli said.

Last September support for Labour’s vision was expressed by Grace Attard, from the National Council of Women; in November, 2006, the Union Haddiema Maghqudin’s secretary general expressed the view that Labour’s plan in this sector was an important instrument; and in December, 2006, the secretary general of the General Workers’ Union said the GWU considered the plans as concrete, and that if implemented they would benefit the country.
