Hundreds of people turned up at the Sant’Antnin plant at Marsascala at the weekend, to learn about waste management and to experience the operations of the newly inaugurated Material Recovery Facility at first hand. The plant is designed to handle 36,000 tonnes of recyclable waste, including that collected from WasteServ’s bring-in and civic amenity sites. Sant’Antnin is also geared to treat domestic organic waste, by the end of the year, bringing total waste to be handled annually to 71,000 tonnes.
