Malta Independent Wednesday, 13 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Police on the beat in Triq it-Trunciera, St Paul’s Bay in the early hours yesterday, noticed that a glass pane on the door of a souvenir shop was broken and that smoke was billowing out.

The police tried to put out the blaze using a fire extinguisher, but also called the Civil Protection staff to fight the fire. Enemalta staff were brought in to ensure that power points were safe. No one was injured.

Duty Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna is conducting an inquiry.
