Mdina were close after just four minutes as a Roderick Schembri free-kick was headed just wide by Liam Mercieca with Siggiewi being denied by Formosa in the 15th minute off an Eman Zammit conclusion.

A minute later Mdina opened the score through Matthew Francalanza and they added a second goal through Nicky Micallef in the 24th minute.

Siggiewi created a dangerous opportunity through David Calleja with Mdina adding another goal in the 36th minute as a free-kick by Roderick Schembri was finished off by Mathew Francalanza to give his side a comfortable 3-0 half-time lead.

Siggiewi’s reaction during the second-half was quite sterile with Mdina continued to be the more menacing infront of goal.

They hit the post through Nicky Micallef in the 53rd minute but eight minutes later Matthew Francalanza sealed his hat-trick to make it 4-0 for the Knights.

Late in the match Mdina’s striker Ayrton Buhagiar wasted an easy opportunity and then twice was unlucky as he hit the post with strong shots.

Fgura-Zejtun C 2-1

Fgura were close early on through Shantlo Felice’s free-kick which was saved by Fardell with Zejtun responding on 21 minutes as a Mario Farrugia attempt was saved by Farrugia.

Then Fgura wasted a glaring opportunity through Claudio Pace but they broke the deadlock on 24 minutes through Matthew Spiteri.

The Corinthians reacted and hit the woodwork through a shot by Elton Caruana but it was Fgura who made it 2-0 in the 44th minute through Clayton Garzia who took advantage of a mistake by Zejtun’s defender Elton Caruana.

In added time Zejtun pulled a goal back through Brian Testaferrata’s header following good work by Glen Azzopardi Busuttil. A minute after the restart Zejtun just missed the target as Steve Shead headed just wide from a cross by Jesmar Abela.

In the 52nd minute an error by Zejtun’s defender Elton Caruana allowed Claudio Pace a clear chance but the Fgura striker shot straight into Fardell. Gradually Zejtun pushed forward with Fgura having to defend for long stretches but on 70 minutes the Corinthians lost Jean Paul Abela who was shown the red card following a second booking.

In a counter-attack Fgura went close through substitute Christian Bordieri. In the 84th minute Zejtun’s defender Elton Caruana was also sent off for a second yellow card and two minutes from time an incident led to the sending off of Clint Ellul (Fgura United) and Mario Farrugia (Zejtun Corinthians).

There were further incidents including a Zejtun player who had been sent off earlier pushing one of the officials with the match being abandoned in the 90th minute.

Pembroke-Gharghur 2-2

A minute had gone by as Pembroke were denied by Gharghur’s custodian Vella off a shot by Carlo Leonardi.

Gharghur replied through a strong shot by Robert Southward which went just high over the bar and at he other end the Gharghur keeper brought off a difficult save to stop a close-range effort by Carlo Leonardi.

On the half-hour Pembroke gained a free-kick which was taken by Jeffrey Fenech with Karl Vella’s shot being cleared by David Galea off the goal line but the loose ball was picked up by Lke Desira who beat Debattista with a low shot.

In the 40th minute Pembroke were very close through Liam Camilleri but it was Gharghur who managed to score three minutes later through a Christian Glass penalty, a penalty given for a foul by Luke Desira on Marvic Grech.

Just before the break Gharghur were close to taking the lead but a strong shot by Robert Southward was well saved by Debattista. On 57 minutes Robert Zammit gave Pembroke a deserved lead but in the 60th minute Gharghur equalised through another penalty given for a foul by Pembroke’s custodian Roderick Debattista on Marvic Grech and duly converted by Christian Glass.

Glass was unlucky in the 68th minute as his shot hit the upright following a Marvic Grech free-kick and two minutes later Gharghur were reduced to ten players as Kurt Pisani was shown the red card for a second booking. Pembroke were then very close through Liam Camilleri and Luke Desira with Gharghur creating a good opportunity through Marvic Grech whose effort was excellently saved by the Pembroke keeper.

Luqa SA-Gzira 0-3

Luqa created the first opportunity with Alexander Pirrone hitting just high over the bar in the 10th minute following a personal effort. Seven minutes later Gzira broke the deadlock as Aldrin Muscat’s shot bounced off the post and Alex Marmara beat Agius from close-range.

At the other end Luqa were very close as a free-kick by Emanuel Cumbo was headed at goal by Pirrone but the ball was cleared off the goal line.

In the 22nd minute Gzira were denied by John Agius off a close-range shot by Owen Spiteri from a cross by Marmara and eight minutes later Aldrin Muscat wasted an incredible opportunity as he shot straight into Agius outstretched hands when all alone in front of goal.

Luqa replied through dangerous efforts by Emanuel Cumbo, Adrian Psaila and Lee Baldacchino which were well saved by Camilleri. Gzira remained the better team throughout the second part of the match and it took them just four minutes to make it 2-0 with Aldrin Muscat heading in from a cross by James Tabone.

On 55 minutes a goal scored by Keith Bonello was disallowed for an offside infringement and then shots by Aldrin Muscat and Justin Felice were well saved by Agius.

The Luqa goalkeeper was again on hand to deny Gzira off a Nico Corito header but they managed to add a third and final goal in the 85th minute through Justin Felice who had come in as a second-half substitute.
