It is all a sham…a gimmick. Surely intelligent people, a well-oiled organisation such as the Nationalist spin doctors could have come out with something more original than gonzipn info. It did not work for David Cameron the Conservative leader and it will not work for Dr Gonzi, simply because awkward questions are never answered.

Even as recent as this week, Lawrence Gonzi classed Mater Dei hospital as a feather in his government cap, which apart from the astronomical cost to the tax-payers is much further from the truth. The organisation is in shambles, to be honest I have no idea who is running the hospital – the health department or the UHM? I have read that they are on a second go slow directive in less than a month.

The question to gonzipn was very simple. I just wanted to know why is it that a 76 year-old man with heart problems and whose daily dose intake of this medicine is a must was thrown out of the outpatient pharmacy by 11am without being served. He was told to go to the 24 hour pharmacy window where his prescriptions will be honoured to be told (after waiting for an hour-and-a-half) that they can only supply him with one day medicine.

A security personnel very helpfully informed him that if he needed this medicine, he would have to return on the morrow to the outpatient pharmacy, but to make sure that he will be there at 5.30am to be served. Upon which this poor soul took the only possible way out, went to a chemist and purchased his medicine. So much for the National Health Service.

My question to Dr Gonzi was: Who is running Mater Dei – the health department or the UHM?
