Mosta suffered a second defeat in a row after having lost to San Gwann last week. The strong north-east wind at Melita ground rendered ball control very difficult, but both teams adapted themselves to the situation and played the ball on the ground for most of the time. Following this game, Paola H are in fifth position on 22 points from 11 games while Mosta are in penultimate position with only four points from same number of games.

In a Mosta reaction they created two occasions in succession.but were denied by Hibs keeper Daniel Balzan

Hibs forged ahead in 10 minutes as Caruana dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and from his cross Elkien Cauchi scored with a low shot from inside the area past Mosta keeper Noel Attard.

The Paolites kept piling pressure and Caruana served Christ Cassar with a through ball and Attard denied him with a fine diving save and the same player drove over the bar after the ball was partially cleared following a flagkick by Matthew Gauci.

The score became level in the 24th minute. After a run down the right flank by Alex Cini, who out-sped two opponents in the process. He executed a perfect cross to Lyden Micallef who headed past Balzan from inside the area. Mosta kept insisting but in the 35th minute, Paola H re-established their slender lead when a shot from outside the area by substitute Jean Luca Caruana was partially saved by Attard and Peter Paul Sammut was on hand to score from the rebound.

Paola H. created more chances after the restart.

Mosta reacted and were awarded three freekicks in a row.

In the 61st minute, Paola H put the issue beyond any doubt when Cauchi was put through in the area and was floored by Eman Grech and Andre Farrugia converted from the spot. Mosta tried to reduce the gap in the remaining minutes but keeper Balzan kept them at bay.

Floriana took the field with five regulars missing through injury and had only two substitutes on the bench. The Amateurs gave them a good run for their money as they played very well creating many occasions especially after resumption. Following this game, Floriana are in top shot with 26 points from 13 games together with Sliema W but the latter have a game in hand, while Melita are in seventh position on 17 points from 12 games.

Floriana forged ahead in the 16th minute with a choral move involving three players: Mark Anthony Borg served Greg Marney with a through ball. The latter returned the compliment to Warren Cardona in the area who shot past Attard Montalto. Melita tried very hard after this set back and created all the occasions up to the half-time whistle.

Most of the pressure after resumption came from Melita as Floriana elected to defend their slender lead trying to act on the break leaving Warren Cardona and Greg Marney as the only two attackers.

In a Floriana rare attack, Russell Marmara served Cardona with a through ball on the left flank but Attard Montalto neutralised the ball from his cross.

Melita kept insisting and the last action before the end, in the second minute of added time, came from Melita as substitute Timothy Hampton served Cassar with a square pass but kkeper Gerada saved his shot from outside the area.
