The arrogance of Gonzi’s Nationalist Party knows no bounds. During one of his campaign speeches, Dr Lawrence Gonzi referred to Labour’s electoral pledge to abolish income tax on overtime work.

Dr Gonzi went as far as to shout: Ghan-nom tal-haddiema kollha nghidlu, le ma jriduhiex! (“on behalf of all workers I tell him (Dr Alfred Sant), no they do not want it”!

How on earth did Dr Gonzi think that he could speak on behalf of all workers on the question of Labour’s pledge on overtime work? This was another clear sign that Dr Gonzi is well aware that the majority of voters consider the Nationalist Party government to have exceeded its sell-by date, and are yearning for a change.

Not just to eradicate corruption, incompetence and the massive squandering of public funds, but also to save democracy, since another Nationalist Party government would render our country very similar to a one-party state!
