Opposition Leader Alfred Sant yesterday accused the government of abusing of their position through pushing large government IT contracts through the fast-track lane because they have only two weeks of governance left.

The Opposition Leader yesterday continued the MLP’s campaign trail and visited five towns in the first district on il-coach tal-bidla: Pietà, Valletta, Floriana, Marsa and Hamrun.

Dr Sant said large IT government projects should not be awarded now – only two weeks before a general election – and promised that a new Labour government will investigate all these cases.

In a clear reference to the recent debate at University, Dr Sant said that Labour supporters will not be the ones who will start booing – “we will leave that to the hamalli.”

In Valletta, a sizable crowd waved flags and used foghorns to greet Dr Sant who was accompanied by various Labour candidates and MLP president Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, secretary general Jason Micallef and deputy leaders Michael Falzon and Charles Mangion.

One woman even brought out a large framed photo of Dr Sant while other supporters looked out of their windows with MLP flags hanging.
