Good Governance

Malta Independent Thursday, 21 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

Talking of “good governance”! Look what Evarist Saliba had to say about Labour’s good governance in his book No, honourable minister, page 383:

“Dom Mintoff... admitted he did not believe in half measures... It also explains the extreme measures that nurtured a climate of unremming confrontation leading to intolerance and violence. Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici... I look on his premiership as one of the darkest pages in the history of independent Malta. Admittedly he had inherited a hopeless situation from Dom Mintoff, but he made it worse. Violence against political opponents peaked.”

Mr Saliba has hit two birds with one stone!

But why do I bring up these shameful episodes from the past? If you turn to page 384 of the same book you will be reminded that: The one who does not remember history is bound to live it through again.
