Probably the most undisciplined match ever with players on both sides infringing and forcing referee Steven Busuttil to issue no less than nine yellow cards to Nicholas Borg, Ishmael Borg, Pierre Mangion, Roderick Attard, Ivo Agius and Ian Borda of Kavallieri, Justin Barlogio, Richard Newbould and Daryl Psaila of Overseas, and one red card to Greg Van Reeven the Overseas centre.
Overseas had enough opportunity to win but managed to squander good possession by disorganised back play at crucial moments. They were not helped when number 8 Piers Allen had to leave the pitch with injury towards the end.
Kavallieri went three points up with a Roderick Attard penalty, and Overseas hit back with a try by Andrew O’Reilly on the right flank, converted by full back Carmelo Boccaccini.
The trademark Kavallieri driving maul released good ball and fine passing set up Andrea Camilleri for a good wingers try, followed by another by scrum half Pierre Azzopardi for a 13-7 half time lead.
Kavallieri started the second half with prolonged territorial pressure but Overseas held them at bay until center Edward Axisa burst out of defence with a powerful run, carried on by the Overseas forwards into the danger area and Piers Allen burrowed over for a try.
Another run by Allen released the evasive supporting scrum half Yohan Mayorgas to score a try and put Overseas into the lead. Kavallieri came back with a driving maul for captain Daniel Grima to tunnel in for a try to go one point ahead.
Although Overseas fought hard their efforts were unsophisticated and error ridden, so Kavallieri were able to extend their lead with two penalties from fly half Roderick Attard.

Budweiser Qormi S 7
With Stompers playing many of their younger players, the veteran number 8 Christoffel Diamantino and the wise old Jason Cornthwaite were called to guide them, which they did effectively, keeping the game well in hand with their speed and ball skills.
Nevertheless, despite being well beaten the Qormi Sharks made them work hard for their scores.
Left wing Jovan Reljic (2), right flanker Cornthwaite (2), loose head prop Leo Mifsud (2), scrum half Max Galea, Christoffel Diamantino, substitute Mario Fountain and center Luke Debattista scored tries, with conversions by Andrew Camilleri (2), Mario Fountain (2) and Christopher Morten.
Captain John Micallef Moreno and full back Matthew Falzon were the best Sharks, with Micallef Moreno scoring and converting their try before leaving the field injured.
The ubiquitous Max Galea showed his talent to be Man of the Match.
