Malta Independent Sunday, 24 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

In the Degree Plus programme, the University of Malta together with Bank of Valletta is offering various interesting and exciting activities aimed at providing university students with a more holistic educational experience during their years at university.

The Degree Plus programme is the first of its kind in many ways. Its activities have been designed in such a way that they provide students with an opportunity to rediscover the fun in learning. At the same time, through Degree Plus, students can boost their academic studies with the much needed additional practical skills and experiences that enrich their character and employability.

This week, the Degree Plus committee launched the activities that will be available to all university students from the end of February. These include units in entrepreneurship, which focus on inspiring participants to be the leaders of tomorrow, units in ‘Culture and Heritage’, which will give students the opportunity to participate in a number of guided visits around Malta and Gozo, units in ICT that seek to provide a basic understanding of computers, units in ‘Language Development for Professional Purposes’ that seek to enhance students’ language competence, units which encourage students to engage in activities within organisations and off-campus voluntary work, and units which provide postgraduate students with an opportunity to embark on activities which will enhance their professional development.

Further details about this programme together with registration details are available on www.um.edu.mt/degreeplus or through the Degree Plus office (tel: 2340 2092 or 2340 2341, e-mail: [email protected]).
