The questionnaire gradually but discreetly finding its way to several schools asking schoolchildren for their opinion on hunting is rightly considered by hunters as brainwashing.
Who are these nameless survey organisers? They are supposed to be educators. As such they are supposed to teach children, first of all, respect for their fellow human beings. They have miserably failed to do so. Instead they tried to poison the minds of schoolchildren against all hunters irrespectively.
These young minds have since their infancy been subjected to cartoons featuring animals with human characteristics, and to talks at school by members of BirdLife Malta. They have already been indoctrinated. Consequently, their reply to the questionnaire should be a foregone conclusion. Where then is its educational value? As responsible persons the “educators” are supposed to differentiate between the worldwide-accepted practice of hunting, and its illegal practice. They are supposed to correct any false impressions children may have been given by fanatics, and to teach them to think for themselves. They have not done so.
They have zero tolerance towards hunting because they themselves have been brainwashed. With no knowledge about what real hunting is all about, these so-called “educators” have swallowed all the lies dished up incessantly in the media by the bird/animal fanatics. (“Malta is the centre of the avian universe”, “Maltese hunters shoot at anything that flies”, “Hunting is cruel and sadistic”, and so on.)
Their real purpose is to portray a dark picture of hunting because their ulterior motive is to pave the way for the banning of all hunting, certainly not to educate children.
The Minister for Education in turn risks making the mistake all politicians seem prone to make. He should put a stop to this fanatical nonsense by nipping it in the bud. The quicker he does so, the more appropriate will be his standing as Minister for Education.
Anti-hunters have resorted to several shameful tactics: manipulated newspaper surveys, tourism/ airline boycotts, lobbying local and foreign governments, petitions packed with lies from foreign bird societies, and attempts to block EU funds. The manipulation of young children’s minds is their latest tactic.
According to one “Animal Rights” activist, the Education Department Animal Aware-ness Committee compiled the questionnaire. If animals are the issue, what about circuses, poultry rearing, and fish farming? Have they circulated questionnaires on these issues too? Or is their hatred of hunting too strong to allow them to hide their hypocrisy?
We urge the next Minister for Education to investigate, and to take all steps necessary to ensure that the schoolchildren under his Ministry’s care receive some real education to help them become good citizens respecting the views and ways of their fellow citizens.
