Lucid Thinking

Malta Independent Monday, 25 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

I have read Simon Micallef Stafrace’s letter on education (TMID, 22 February) and I think nobody can fail to agree with its contents.

As usual, Dr Micallef Stafrace is lucid in his thinking and pleasant in his style, while at the same time driving his point home with firmness. I must admit I like his way of doing politics, and I am sure his abilities will benefit not only his constituents on the First Electoral Division (Valletta, Floriana, Marsa, etc) but the entire Maltese nation.

Dr Micallef Stafrace’s letter dispels the misinformation campaign being staged by the PN. It is very clear that the reception class suggestion caught the PN by surprise and it is now doing its best to confuse minds. Carmelo Abela has done an excellent job in explaining the idea, but the PN keeps sowing doubt in the minds of the electorate. Dr Micallef Stafrace is right when he claims that it is morally reprehensible to pursue such doubtful tactics.

We were promised a new way of doing politics a few years back. The way the PN reacted to the reception class proposal has shown that that promise has unfortunately not been fulfilled. The country really needs a new beginning; a fresh start with the right mix of new, untainted politicians and more experienced ones. Only Labour satisfies those requisites.
