Hamrun Spartans and Hibernians will be meeting each other in what has become a decisive clash this evening (kick-off 8pm) as the Bank of Valletta Premier League first phase comes to an end.
Following Birkirkara’s assurance of a place among the Top Six on Friday evening after their match against Floriana, today’s second match on the card has become a decider.
The Spartans have an added advantage over the Paolites – they are two points ahead of the Paolites in the standings, meaning that a draw will be enough for them to earn their berth in the Top Six, while condemning Hibernians to the Relegation Pool for the first time ever.
It will certainly be a keenly contested encounter with the two sides aiming to avoid the Relegation Pool.
Earlier in the first match (6pm), Msida SJ will be meeting Mqabba with their only aim being a further three points to strengthen their position with the most number of points at the start of the second phase.
