The Malta Labour Party yesterday continued its campaign trail in il-coach tal-bidla, stopping in another four towns where Opposition Leader Alfred Sant repeated his promises to Labour supporters.

The coach stopped in Balzan, Attard, Gharghur and, finally, in Mosta. The Labour delegation were welcomed by fireworks let off roofs and in Gharghur, even a wailing siren.

A sizeable crowd had gathered in each locality and, in Mosta, they stopped to watch MLP promotional adverts on a large screen next to the Mosta Dome.

Dr Sant spoke about the state of corruption in the government and pointed out that if Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi wanted to remove corruption he should have done so five years ago.

He told the supporters in each village that, under the Nationalists, there is bad governance and promised to change this under a new Labour government.

The Opposition Leader repeated his promises to reduce the surcharge by half for households during the first week of a Labour government and to refund VAT spent on educational items with the children’s allowance.

“These are measures that will help improve your quality of life – something which has become worse under a Nationalist government,” said Dr Sant.
